DEPARTMENT

The School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering (CSEE) is a large and vibrant department in the Faculty of Science and Health. The REF ranked CSEE 6 in the UK for Computer Science research power and 100% of its research impact was rated world-leading or internationally excellent. CSEE is internationally known for its research in a range of areas and offers an excellent education to its students. The school has seen tremendous growth recently as a result of its research and education output and is looking for lecturers who can help continue the development of the school and its students as part of a strategic growth of its Robotics and Embedded Systems Research Group.

In particular we are seeking staff in the following three areas as part of the strategic expansion of our Robotics and Embedded Systems Research Group:

  • Computer Vision & Robotics
  • Embedded Systems
  • Robotics
  • DUTIES OF THE ROLE

    You will deliver excellent research and teaching, generate research income, contribute to the administration and management of the School and to its local, regional and international profile. You will teach on our courses at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. This may include delivering existing modules, developing new modules and generally enhancing our research-led teaching. We aim for excellence in education as well as research and are looking for individuals who can contribute to both.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

    You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, and ideally fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate.

    You will have confirmed experience in teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and of designing and planning learning activities. You will be able to demonstrate evidence of a clear publication plan for submission to future Research Excellence Framework (REF) programmes, and evidence of a research agenda, engagement in high-quality research activity and a developing research profile.
