We are currently recruiting a mid-level disputes Associate with a background in professional liability defence work to join the General Counsel team. The role is to be based in our London office. This person will work primarily with the contentious function of the General Counsel team on all liability matters affecting the firm, including dealing with all claims made pursuant to the firm’s insurance policies. They will work closely with colleagues from across the EMEA region on regulatory and liability issues and with our Data Protection Officer on any contentious data protection issues.

Their role will include:

  • Dealing with the defence of professional liability claims made against the firm
  • Instructing external lawyers and Counsel both in London and elsewhere in EMEA
  • Liaising with our insurers
  • Analysing complex legal issues and distilling them for management
  • Handling all aspects of the dispute resolution process
  • Assisting with investigations and regulatory matters
  • Assisting with the defence of employment claims against the firm
  • Presenting to the firm on risk and liability issues
  • Dealing with insurance matters (both contentious and non-contentious)
  • Advising fee-earners and other employees in relation to a range of diverse legal queries
  • Assisting in responding to data subject access requests
  • Significant day to day contact with a wide range of people from many different departments, different offices and different levels of seniority.
