Job Description

The Role

The Data Governance Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation and compliance with data governance policies and procedures within EMEA.

They work with the Global Data Office to understand and influence data management policies, procedures, associated implementation plans and controls.

They work with EMEA business and technology teams to rollout data management policies, address compliance issues and provide training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and influence global data policies (such as data retention, data ethics, data architecture, data risk), procedures and implementation plans on behalf of EMEA. Ensuring EMEA specific jurisdictional requirements are addressed (primarily UK focused).

  • Co-ordinate EMEA policy engagement and develop local implementation plans where appropriate.

  • Manage any local EMEA data governance policies.

  • Monitor data risk & compliance metrics and drive improvement where needed.

  • Monitor SLAs between Group & EMEA for Data Governance.

  • Prepare material for: UK Data Forum; data governance input to the UK Risk Register; and quarterly Operational Risk Committee briefings.

  • Conduct EMEA Data Governance training.

  • Skills

  • Knowledge of data management principles and concepts.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with business and technical teams.

  • Good negotiation and communication skills with both business and technical audiences

  • Well organized, able to plan work, meetings and implementation projects.

  • Subject matter knowledge of bank operations and/or financial services

  • Experience

  • Experience working with policy design, implementation or monitoring.

  • Data Management or Governance experience.

  • Banking experience.

  • Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
