SYSTRA  are looking to expand our Signature Team in the UK, working on high profile infrastructure projects such as HS2 and TRU, we are building on our 50 years of success in the UK by growing our team and looking for passionate people to deliver projects across our portfolio.

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Major Projects Engineering Manager with a focus on rail systems to join our growing team in London. This position will suit a committed and ambitious candidate who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills in an integrated project team environment, combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing a dynamic high-performance team.

With a focus on the design of High Speed rail infrastructure the successful candidate will also support other Product Lines in the UK and overseas as required.

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of practical work experience, project management and mentoring skills. This is a good opportunity for an enthusiastic design / engineering management specialist to further their career in a highly motivated and inspirational environment.

Main Duties

  • Responsible for managing requirements and outputs of the design contract in relation to all Rail Systems requirements
  • Oversight and management of the interfaces between Rail Systems and all other project disciplines
  • Management of third party requirements
  • Management of the specification of Rail Systems sub-contractors and selection of sub-contractors
  • Validation of delivery against design
  • Management of high speed and Network Rail interface (technical and programme)
  • Client liaison
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills including writing and presenting
  • Capable of organising and developing your work with minimal supervision, managing a challenging workload subject to change at short notice
  • High level of personal responsibility. Adaptable and flexible approach to different project requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in integrated project team environment
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by the manager from time to time.

    Experience

  • Significant high-level Engineering Management experience from complex rail infrastructure environments, ideally in Design Consultancy
  • Degree in suitable Engineering discipline with Chartership status
  • Demonstrable CEM experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Tenacity, resilience and significant leadership qualities
  • Familiarity with relevant digital engineering software
