Contract type: Permanent
Hours: 40 hours per week, any 5 days from 7
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Facilities Operative to join our Wincanton Racecourse providing general Maintenance. This brand new role will produce high quality reactive maintenance and repair work ensuring high standards of customer care and satisfaction, in a safe and successful working environment. In addition ensuring compliance with HSE Guidance (ACOP L8), by carrying out and supporting daily, weekly and monthly health, safety and compliance checks
Key responsibilities include
To carry out general routine reactive maintenance around the Racecourse and associated sites as required. This is to include such duties as decorating, paving, plumbing, glazing, carpentry, plastering and fencing.
To continuously check and monitor the Racecourse facilities, highlighting areas that require reactive maintenance repairs and improvements and reporting them to the Maintenance Team Leader.
Alongside the team conduct regular fire alarm tests and record all findings. Ensure Fire Extinguishers are in Date & placed correctly
Weekly flushing of water outlets and monthly water temperature checks, update all records and record all finding
Making sure all doors are compliant, e.g. self-close in a reasonable time and recording any deficiencies
Checking that all stairs ways have secure handrails and treads are safe and in a good condition.
To attend race meetings at the Racecourse, and to fulfil the role of standby facilities and maintenance support. Assist with Operations ensuring all task pre & post racing are completed .
The successful candidate will have ;
A working knowledge of Health and Safety policies and procedures
An understanding of Health and Safety compliance checks.
Takes a personal pride in doing a fantastic job
Interest in developing existing skills and acquiring new ones.
Willingness to provide a service to other people
A valid UK driving licence
The successful candidate will be required to work evenings and weekends to support racing when necessary.
