Assistant Project Manager – Construction & Refurbishment Job Vacancy in Middlesbrough, England, UK
To assist the Project Managers in the delivery of a comprehensive design and project management consultancy service for all buildings and engineering works.
Overview of Responsibilities
Carry out the procurement and financial management of all project work as assigned by the Capital Projects Manager.
Undertake all briefing, design, procurement and commissioning of minor project work assigned by the Capital Projects Manager.
Ensure any information in regard to project works, and/or maintenance work, are updated on the Department’s record systems.
To assist in the identification of the long term maintenance requirements of the campus buildings fabric and external environs for inclusion in the Estates Strategy. Make regular inspections of buildings, prepare work schedules and programmes and mange the repair works.
Contribute to regular management reports on progress, project issues, risk management, mitigation measures and resolution.
Manage on site contractors and assist in the administration of Measured Term Contracts and Construction contracts.
To participate in an “on call” assistance rota for out of hours assistance to the University in relation to Estates matters.
To maintain current knowledge of the law, Health & Safety, and Construction industry regulations and good practice as it relates to the University and the duties of this post, and ensure all relevant written records are produced and maintained for the ‘in house’ our outside bodies inspection as necessary.
To agree with the Capital Projects Manager an annual self-administered programme of continues professional development.
HNC in building / project management studies or closely related subject, or equivalent
Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
Demonstrate experience of overseeing minor refurbishment projects and new construction projects from £25k to £2m in value.
Possess up-to-date working knowledge of relevant legislative compliance frameworks affecting the built environment (including Health and Safety).
Provide evidence of managing project budgets.
