We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation, and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.

We are recruiting a UAT Technician as part of the IELTS Modernisation Programme.

Our mission is to contribute to society through the pursuit of education, learning, and research at the highest international levels of excellence. Which is why every year, we give vital support to millions of people in more than 170 countries around the world. From teachers and learners to researchers and academics, we help to build confidence, unlock potential, and enable success. We give people the opportunity to show what they’ve learnt, we spread knowledge, spark enquiry, and aid understanding.

We achieve this by embracing change, and continuously focusing on our customers’ needs. And by collaborating, and carefully listening to our customers and to each other, we keep moving forward, keep innovating, and keep finding newer and better ways of doing things.

What you’ll be doing

To actively participate in development scrums, project boards, working groups and progress reviews, lead stand up meetings with the UAT virtual teams, to prepare test monitors and reports on the progress of UAT. To co-ordinate the efforts of larger virtual testing teams made up of staff drawn from across the organisation, on a project-by-project basis. The result is to ensure that the testing resources allocated to each software release are used effectively and project deadlines are met.

To effectively and efficiently test software products before their release to customers, both external and internal, by designing, building and executing test cases, and identifying and analysing defects where there is deviation from expected results. This is to ensure that the software delivered to our customers is of the highest standard.

Build, manage and maintain effective collaborative working relationships with Cambridge English’s business change and project managers, sponsors, and BTS teams, providing feedback for project scheduling and reporting purposes to ensure that testing is carried out in accordance with quality requirements and to facilitate effective delivery of quality projects.

To prepare test cases for the UAT of projects and review them with the project team to ensure that they demonstrate the business condition under test and the expected results. The result is to ensure that the scope of testing is clearly defined, and that all areas of the application are tested.

To coach and mentor staff within the organisation to help them develop their skills in UAT. The result is to ensure that a wide range of staff across Cambridge English are able to contribute to the UAT of projects.

What we’re looking for

With strong stakeholder management skills, you will have a thorough understanding of software development principles along with broad experience across the project lifecycle, including waterfall and agile/hybrid methodologies.

A natural team player, you’ll balance need, risk and pragmatism when developing solutions and will be known for providing advice and sound guidance in a collaborative, inclusive way that ensures all stakeholders are consulted and feel valued.

With good analytical and problem-solving skills, you’ll investigate defects and data, and understand complex business processes underpinning test cases.

Benefits

Alongside providing a supportive and flexible working environment we also offer competitive salaries, a world-class rewards package that will help you to live well at work, and outside of it.
