About the role

Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Community Engagement Officer to join our team to work in the West Midlands based from our Stoneleigh office.

What you’ll be doing

As a Community Engagement Officer you will:

  • Support the delivery of the HS2 Projects Community Engagement Strategy and Community Commitments;
  • Participate in the development of the Balfour Beatty Vincis community reputation through coordinating, contributing to and delivering Community Engagement activities in sub lot area(s) as required;
  • Develop plans;
  • Respond to enquiries and complaints;
  • Coordinate and support events;
  • Meet stakeholders;
  • Coordinate and support the delivery of Community Investment work in sublot area(s) as the programme requires;
  • Take a lead in the preparation, recording and distribution of communication and community engagement materials for internal and external use;
  • Close liaison with HS2 counterparts and other contractors to ensure consistency across the project.
  • Who we’re looking for

    Personal Qualities and Experience:

  • Experience of developing communication and engagement plans;
  • Experience of organising public facing events and engagements;
  • Experience of working on large building/civil engineering infrastructure projects and/or the construction industry;
  • Excellent communication, written and interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent analytical skills;
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage conflicting deadlines;
  • Business knowledge;
  • Team player with ability to influence and negotiate.

    Balfour Beatty VINCI is responsible for designing and building part of the most exciting and challenging railway project in Europe: HS2.

    We are building the West Midlands section of HS2s Phase One route, spanning approximately 90km from Long Itchington in Warwickshire to the centre of Birmingham and on to Handsacre in Staffordshire. We will be employing thousands of people in the area to design and build the civil infrastructure for HS2 through the West Midlands area and are looking for a wide range of experts to join the team and support this unique, ground breaking project.

    You could help us build that civil infrastructure:

  • 42 viaducts totaling over 11km, 66 over-bridges;
  • More than 35 cuttings reaching over 30km;
  • 56 culverts and other under-bridges;
  • 66 embankments reaching over 33km;
  • Building four motorway crossings requiring box structures and six interfaces with the existing rail requiring both dive-under and over-bridge structures.
