The role

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are currently looking to recruit a bright and ambitious paralegal for a unique and interesting position combining a role within our Litigation, Arbitration & Regulatory Knowledge team with support for our UK class actions initiative.
The role will involve working closely with:

  • the members of our Litigation, Arbitration & Regulatory Knowledge team to help deliver on existing UK and international Knowledge initiatives and to drive forwards new ones; 
  • our UK Class Actions Group to deliver on-going thought leadership initiatives to support the growth of our class actions practice;

The role will be based in our London office but may also require travel to client sites and our other UK and international offices from time to time.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Candidates will have a broad diet of work that will include, but not be limited to the below.

Knowledge

  • Assisting in the monitoring of legal developments and horizon scanning for upcoming judgments and other developments of significance to our clients.
  • Collecting, reviewing and uploading example documents, precedents and research notes onto our Knowledge database.
  • Providing support in relation to the UK and international training programmes being run by the team. Including:
  • Chairing a regular Knowledge team training meeting to ensure we drive forward our plan of training for the year; and
  • Liaising with external speakers (including counsel and their clerks) and chairing run through sessions with them.
  • Managing a rota of trainee speakers for the London Lit & Arb team meetings.
  • Assisting in updating menu of training that can be offered to clients by the team.
  • Conducting research on legal developments or new areas of law relevant to the team.
  • Providing direct support to lawyers to assist them with locating practice-related internal and external Knowledge resources.
  • Updating our intranet pages to ensure key resources and information are up to date and accessible to the lawyers in our team – including researching best resources for inclusion in new areas.
  • Reviewing and marking up/editing international Lit & Reg client facing publications.
  • Assisting in the implementation of international Knowledge projects as required.
  • Attending Knowledge team and Litigation, Arbitration & Regulatory group meetings.

Class actions

  • Providing support to lawyers in relation to the on-going thought leadership and business development campaigns including:

o    researching developments in the class actions sphere; and
o   liaising on global and UK initiatives and collaborating with the US and Australian Knowledge and Business Development teams in relation to the implementation of the Global Class Actions Initiative.

  •  Supporting the planning and delivery of a major international class actions events.
  •  Supporting the preparation and delivery of a substantial thought leadership pieces in the class actions space.

ABOUT YOU 

  • Law degree or equivalent.
  • LPC an advantage but not essential.
  • Genuine interest in disputes work.
  • Strong drafting and research skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Well-developed communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in MS 365 and Excel.
  • High professional standards including attention to detail and responsiveness.
  • Able to work co-operatively in a team, sharing information and knowledge.
  • Pragmatic, self-motivated and flexible.
  • Willing to take on additional tasks/help develop creative solutions.
  • Manages time effectively and efficiently.
  • Takes ownership for achieving agreed objectives.
  • Commercially astute and stays current on key legal and business news.
