Role: UK Electrical Engineer (Water)

Salary: up to £45,000 p/a

My client, who offers the market a unique end-to-end service ranging from needs assessment & solution definition, through design, manufacture, installation & commissioning, to aftercare and operation of water & wastewater treatment assets. They have an immediate vacancy for an Electrical Engineer to join their Delivery Team, focusing on the design, assembly, installation and commissioning of electrical equipment on projects, based from their office in Hampshire.
The role would suit a flexible, enthusiastic and organised individual with a strong work ethic and water industry experience. They will need to be self-motivated, a good communicator and willing to work in a small business environment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of electrical, instrumentation, control and automation installation work teams, subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Reviewing electrical design drawings, schedules and documents received from clients for pricing purposes.
  • Preparation of electrical design and enquiry packages for inclusion in electrical subcontract enquiries.
  • Reviewing electrical design drawings, schedules and documents received from subcontractors for approval.
  • Adherence to required standards, policies and statutory regulations for Health & Safety.
  • Inspection of systems to ensure they are installed, tested and commissioning to relevant British, ISO and client standards.
  • Supervising electrical teams and subcontractors during the installation and commissioning process.
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and other contractors.
  • Complying with all relevant Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work Plans, and working in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
  • Identifying and promoting new ideas and improvements to the business via the appropriate reporting mechanisms.
  • Attending team meetings, in person or remotely
  • Supporting the operation of the branch office, especially when other workers are away or on leave
  • Other duties as may arise from time to time that are consistent with the job-holder’s knowledge and skills, and are needed to effectively perform the role
  • Key Skills & Experience:

  • Engineering, science or similar to degree, HND, HNC or equivalent level.
  • Minimum four years’ postgraduate experience in a similar role within the utilities sector and/or M&E engineering environment.
  • Candidates should have extensive experience of industrial / commercial electrical and ICA design, assembly, installation, testing and commissioning, ideally in the water sector.
  • Experience in specific Low Voltage (LV) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems – including conditioning, conversion and interpretation plus digital I/O, relay control logic and instrumentation.
  • Candidates must be qualified to a minimum of 18th Edition, C&G 2391 Inspection & Test and hold a current JIB Gold Card.
  • Experience of working as an NIC-EIC Competent Person would be an advantage.
  • Good communication skills, able to interact effectively with Clients and colleagues.
  • Experience within the UK water industry is a distinct advantage.
  • Willingness to travel regionally and nationwide (including overnight stays),
  • Full driving licence
