The University Information Services (UIS) is seeking an¿Institution Support IT Technician to join their Institution Support Service team in providing contracted IT support to a variety of departments, colleges and other organisations within the University.

Institution Support is a dynamic and friendly team where you will be working in a hybrid onsite/remote arrangement as part of a geographically dispersed team.

The Role is varied and interesting as we support a number of University institutions. It represents an ideal opportunity for working in IT within the university and/or to progress your skill base. This role includes:

  • Interfacing with the end users/customers during the investigation and resolution of incidents.
  • Providing 1st and 2nd line Support on both managed and unmanaged Windows and Apple Devices.
  • Utilising application knowledge to effectively troubleshoot, diagnose and resolve problems.
  • Collaborating and liaising with colleagues to ensure the best outcome
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to procedures
  • Updating existing documentation as required.
  • Ensuring the resolution of incidents in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
  • The ideal candidate should have:

  • Experience supporting customers in the use of IT systems and services
  • Demonstrable team-working experience
  • Clearly developed customer service skills
  • A solid working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems, Mac OS, iOS and Android as well as a good knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own tasks
  • Able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Be highly proactive and enthusiastic
  • Fixed-term: 2 years.
