We are looking for an Graduate DM Planner to join Capita at an exciting time for the Breckland District Council/Capita Partnership. We are currently looking to recruit a motivated individual to join our successful Development Management (DM) team based in Dereham. As our Graduate D M Planner , you will be part of an ambitious, successful team providing our core client with high quality, timely and outcome based development management services.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Manage a personal caseload of Planning applications including: assessment of the need for planning permission, pre-application assessments, planning applications and appeals.
  • Attend Planning Committee and present applications, as required
  • Provide support and assistance to colleagues within the Planning Enforcement and Technical Support Teams as required
  • Keeping up to date with current legislation and policy changes
  • Dealing with all aspects of the Development Management processes to include site visits, consultations and negotiations
  • Providing timely, well written reports and recommendations to the managers of the development management and enforcement teams
  • What we are looking for:

  • A degree in Town and Country Planning/another relevant Degree or experience working in a Planning environment
  • A desire to work towards membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Some knowledge of current legislation relating to planning
  • The ability to prioritise and manage a workload, and to work flexibly to meet the commercial and contractual requirements of the business
  • The ability to use personal initiative to solve challenges
  • Hold a current driving licence and access to your own vehicle
