This is a part-time, fixed term contract for 12 months with the possibility of extension.

This is a 60%, part-time position, working in the Comparative Neuromuscular Diseases Laboratory at the Camden Royal Veterinary College Campus. On occasion you might be required to work at the RVC’s Hawkshead Campus. You will have prior experience in working in a laboratory setting, ideally in biomedical sciences, with experience of sample processing and laboratory techniques and working with computer databases.

Your main role will be in the day to day processing and analysis of research samples, under the direction of the Laboratory manager and Principal Investigator and by working alongside experienced post doctoral research assistants. You will work on various projects involving neuromuscular diseases of animals and humans but in particular on projects related to translational therapies for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Ideally you will have prior experience in neuromuscular laboratory research with histology, molecular biology and cell culture. You may be expected to facilitate the research of students in the laboratory by helping in preparation for their experiments and will contribute to group discussions and lab meetings but your primary role is in contributing to the successful completion of various research projects, working in a team. You will have excellent organisational and communication skills and will be able to work unsupervised.
