Role Purpose

Do you fancy a change? Why not consider coming to work every day in the beautiful surroundings of the Scottish Borders. The post holder would be based in the Galashiels team incorporating a mix of home and office working.

Easily accessible by both road and Borders Railway with access to pool cars. We are an enthusiastic and friendly team with supportive management and regular supervision. We are looking at new ways of engaging with the community and taking a more preventative approach, e.g.: Community Led Support and Integration with Health. We are looking for candidates with transferrable skills to be able to work closely with statutory and voluntary teams to provide the best service for service users. You will need to have the highest professional standards, be emotionally mature, have a strong desire to help others and be able to show dignity and respect to all people. Opportunities for further training and development are available and supported through the supervision process.

This post is being offered is a temp term of 9 months for 35 hours per week. This offers a great opportunity within a very supportive and lively team working within commuting distance of Edinburgh and surrounding areas. The post holder would benefit from being part of a busy and skilled adult social work/occupational health locality team who undertake a range of statutory social work, adult support and protection investigations/casework, as well as complex care management. The post of Community Care Assessor will primarily have a workflow that incorporates a lower level of risk and work on you would be working on the premise of preventative reablement. The post is open to candidates with an SVQ in Social Care and Health and ideally you will have some experience of locality social work service but we will also consider candidates with suitable experience.

Essential

Numeracy skills at Standard Grade or equivalent; English at a Higher Grade or equivalent.

A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post.
