Housing Officer

My client a family-owned business based in Bradford have a unique opportunity for a Housing Officer to join their specialist letting service.

As a Housing Officer, you manage a number of our properties and related services keeping in regular contact with tenants, looking after and securing rental income and dealing with repairs and issues as required and managing varied and sometimes challenging situations. Knowledge of housing management legislation, basic building construction, relevant government policy and current housing issues is desirable, a full driving licence and access to a car is essential. Please note this role includes Sunday as part of the working week and a normal working day non-negotiable.

Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Managing rents, administering, and undertaking collections (including in person), and working with the office team to deal with and minimise arrears
  • Full property inspections and inventory management, using recording and reporting systems as required
  • Undertaking any job lists as allocated by the Managing Director
  • Conducting regular Health and Safety checks, including effective recording and reporting of any compliance related matters, and ensuring remedial action is undertaken as required
  • Processing of applications and checks for rental agreements in line with relevant legislation
  • Handling breaches of tenancy and leasehold agreements, which could culminate in carrying out evictions
  • Managing and administering repair and maintenance programmes, including sourcing trades people/contractors and managing time, cost and performance of works
  • Managing any tenant issues or nuisance orders
  • Liaising with tenant groups, local authorities, property professionals and other professional bodies as required
  • Maintaining records and writing reports and completing other business administration activities, including data base management related to our property portfolio
  • Managing emergencies and urgent issues
  • Developing ideas and ways of working for continuous business improvement
  • Carrying out other specific projects as determined by the Office Manager and/or Company Director

40 hours a week, 5 days a week,Daily from 10am to 7pm, 1 hour for lunch (unpaid) Tuesday and Saturday off Please note this role includes Sunday as part of the working week and a normal working day.

Starting 24,000 – 26,000
