Job summary

To provide Third Line Network support to all corporate computer systems and associated Infrastructure, including Cisco and Citrix technologies.

Undertake, in conjunction with the Senior Technical Services Manager, the development, planning, implementation and support of standard network systems.

Ensure that corporate network systems are supported effectively, including routine housekeeping, Monitoring Network estate using Solarwinds & DNA Spaces.

Undertake acceptance testing, installation, commissioning, software loading and configuration. Troubleshooting ICT equipment, such as Servers and Network components, ensuring such ICT equipment conforms to the appropriate safety standards.

As part of the network team, you will ensure support requests are handled within agreed SLA timeframes and followed ITIL framework best practices.

Utilising resources effectively and efficiently to achieve a quality service for the organisation.

Work with relevant staff as required in the procurement, development and implementation of information systems.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Support and supervise more junior ICT members in the execution of their job role.
  • Be conversant with the principles, configuration and use of the Trust’s standard computer operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows technologies.
  • Undertake advanced problem determination and resolution on ICT equipment and services, and liaise with ICT staff, in particular the Technical Leads, and other parties as necessary to rectify such faults.
  • Use the LANDesk computer system to record, manage and monitor the progress of all jobs and incidents to their resolution, including invoking escalation procedures, where appropriate and keeping users and other system managers informed of progress.
  • Use the LANDesk computer system as the Trust’s ICT asset management system, and to use the system for the production of management reports, as required.
  • Assist in the evaluation of third party software.
  • Participate in the management of designated projects according to PRINCE 2 principles, ensuring project objectives are met in accordance with quality, budget and timescales. Documenting all project work to departmental standards.
  • Liaise with associated and related project teams, taking full account of user requirements and business objectives.
  • Participate in developing documentation for ICT policies, procedures and system configurations.
  • Liaise with outside support agencies on matters relating to the operation of ICT equipment and associated software
