An excitingopportunity has become available as Information Analyst in BusinessIntelligence at Barnsley Hospital. The post holder will ensure that allstatutory statistical returns are completed by the required deadlines,maintaining the quality and context of data held within informationsystems.
The post holder will be required to prepare both routine and adhocinformation reports, inputting and processing information in accordance withprocedures and be responsible forattending specified meetings and providing the necessary information to supportthe analytical work of the business areas. The role also involves responding to enquiries from any customers, which could include staff,patients, public or external stakeholders such as data providers that couldrequire the interpretation of datasets.
The successful candidate will provide training for information staff on own subject area andprovide supervision to junior analysts.
Main duties of the job
Informatics aims to deliverresponsive, high quality information by actively engaging with the local healthcommunity, soliciting its current and changing requirements in support of thetrusts Vision and Strategy.
The successful candidate will ensure thatall statutory statistical returns, including NHS central returns, are completedonline via NHS Digital, HSCIC or as directed, and are submitted accurately byapplying validation rules, reconciling data and resolving any significantvariances to formats and deadlines as specified by the Department of Health(DOH). This also includes providing anyother hospitals with the information they require to complete similar returns.
The post holder will ensure that regular corporate information reports arecompleted to formats and deadlines agreed with the higher-level analysts. This will require extraction of patient datafrom various sources, and will necessitate the reconciliation and validation ofthe data, resolving any data quality issues prior to publication anddistribution.
The role also involves developing or creating corporateand/or performance reports to aid management or clinical decision making, withthe support of the high level Analysts.This will include using spreadsheets to summarise data, maintainingdatabases for data collection and ensuring that the systems used are adapted toreflect changes in the data collection and services provided.
