Band 4- Nurse Associate / Assistant hours per week

We have an exciting new role for an enthusiasticNurse Associate to join our friendly and dynamic children’s complex care team.

The service is made up of 4 teams,

  • The continuing care team, who provide care in the home for children with complex needs and provide 1-1 care in the school setting.
  • The Long Term Ventilation Team who provide home packages of care for children who require ventilation to assist their breathing
  • Swanbourne Gardens, a 4 beddedunit that provides overnight respite for children with complex needs.
  • The Palliative Care Team who care for children who require palliative care and end of life care.

You will be fully supported by our team of experienced band 6 nurses. As a team we strive to provide the children we support with high standards of care. We work in collaboration with the families to support the children and enhance their quality of life.

Main duties of the job

As the Nurse Associate for the team you will have a breadth of knowledge of child development and be able to provide holistic, person and family centred care for our children. You will help bridge the gap between Health Care Assistants and Registered nurses by being able to work independently under the leadership of the registered nurses within the Complex Care Team. You will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. You will monitor the health needs of the children within your care on a continual basis in partnership with the multi-professional team.

You will assist with teaching and assessing the competencies required for the staff to deliver day to day care for the children with complex health needs, these cares will include tracheostomies, gastrostomies and ventilation support. You would be expected to provide supervision and support for the band 3 support workers.
