Job summary

The post holder is responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of core Trust training programmes including Statutory, Mandatory and Essential training for staff employed at Barts Health through the Pathology Partnership.

The post-holder will contribute to the planning of these programmes together with the associated internal quality assurance processes. They will be required to deliver training to small and large groups of staff and will be required to work with staff in the Pathology Partnership to ensure the essential skills for the variety of roles within the Partnership are accurately identified and mapped with Trust systems.

The post holder will support the Statutory, Mandatory and Essential Skills Training Lead in the design and implementation of new educational resources and programmes designed to address the emergent needs for these staff within the Trust.

Main duties of the job

In conjunction with the Lead for Statutory, Mandatory and Essential Skills, to assess, plan, review/design and evaluate training and learning interventions for Statutory, Mandatory and Essential training, required specifically for Pathology Partnership staff, ensuring materials utilised/developed are impactful and engaging and use innovative learning methodologies.

In conjunction with the Lead, to develop a staff group specific training needs analysis (TNA) for Statutory, Mandatory and Essential Skills which reflects any specific Pathology Partnership requirements.

To lead on the development and implementation of customised staff group specific learning resources, tailored to profession and role responsibilities. To ensure the learning objectives of these resources adhere to relevant regulatory, governance and organisational requirements the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) and CQC requirements.

To work closely with the Head of Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) to ensure the development of innovative educational materials and to work with the Knowledge and Library team on the development of a repository of supplementary materials which support various learning styles.

To work with Pathology Partnership leads in order to facilitate and support learning through a variety of means, including working informally with learners and providing advice to Trust staff on learning and training related queries such as access to suitable programmes.

To act as the liaison point for leadership programmes provided through our accredited Institute of Leadership and Management offering and also leadership programmes offered through the apprenticeship route which provides a development pathway for Trust leaders from Level 2 (aspiring leaders) through to MBA (senior leaders)

To work with the Partnership and the Apprenticeship team to identify suitable apprenticeship programmes delivered using the apprenticeship levy as the funding stream.

To work with the Trust Induction Lead and Pathology Partnership leads to ensure appropriate access to induction programmes and the development of robust local induction processes. Given that the Partnership spans the Homerton, and Lewisham and Greenwich, with staff based in these Trusts, it is important that staff in the Partnership feel part of the Barts family and understand the Barts We Care values.

To work with the induction lead on the development of suitable resources to support with newly developed induction processes for Pathology Partnership staff.

To work with the Learning and Training Senior Facilitators in order to develop new programmes designed to meet emergent Trust and national requirements.

To work in partnership with other departments and teams to ensure the smooth planning and running of programmes and to ensure that the content of programmes is up-to-date and meets both Trust Policy, legislation and best practice.

To monitor and review the evaluations from their delivery in order to determine the effectiveness of content and mode of delivery. To suggest appropriate, constructive amendments to programmes based on an evaluation of delegate feedback.

To offer advice and guidance where necessary to all those using the learning and training environment offering guidance and general information about course provision.

The post-holder may occasionally be required to undertake additional duties, to ensure the continuous smooth running of the department.

To liaise with administrative colleagues to ensure all training activity is correctly recorded using the CATQR systems and that administrative staff are advised of any booked delegates who did not attend.
