There is an exciting opportunity to join the Cardiac Physiology Team at NHS Forth Valley. We are looking for an additional Highly Specialised Cardiac Physiologist to join our friendly and experienced Echocardiography team.

The service has 11 consultants with clinical expertise in all aspects of cardiology including cardiac imaging including CT, rhythm management, electrophysiology and heart failure. Coronary intervention is provided by our tertiary partners in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The Physiology staff include ten Band 7 staff members and three Band 6 staff members that are highly enthusiastic and well experienced. We currently have 2 trainee students.

The Cardiac Investigations department provides routine diagnostic procedures such as routine ECG, Holter/Events monitors and recorders, Ambulatory monitoring analysis, Exercise Tolerance tests, and implantable loop clinics. The echocardiography service at provides TTE, TOE, Stress Echo and Contrast/Bubble studies.

Our Cardiac Imaging Service covers a wealth of specialist areas including TTE, TOE as well as a well established and renowned Stress Echo service. We perform approx 8000-9000 TTE and 200 Stress echo studies a year. The team run annual Basic and Advanced educational courses. We also have a well-established multimodality cardiac imaging service with CT coronary angiography available for the investigation of chest pain, and a developing cardiac MRI service.

The Cardiac Physiology Echo team work within specialised Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy and Specialised Valve Clinics as well as an advanced Paediatric and Adult Congenital areas.

This post is funded by a developing Heart Failure service and the successful applicant will be enthusiastic and motivated to move with a rapidly changing service.

There is a possibility that the future role of this post might include community based service on other sites and areas out with the main Cardiology Department within Forth Valley Royal Hospital such as ward and emergency/admission areas.

We have a weekly Echo MDT and a fortnightly CT MDT with support for ongoing training.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital is a new, modern district general hospital and the Forth Valley region is situated in the Scottish central belt with easy access to the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.

We support a broad range of both clinical and non-clinical educational activities.

All applicants will be expected to have BSc Clinical Physiology or equivalent and HCPC registration as a clinical scientist or AHCS practitioner/ RCCP registration, and have ILS.

The post holder will hold a BSE/EACVI Exam Accreditation and work independently to a high level.
