UHCW NHS trust is a level one Major Trauma Centre and a tertiary neurosurgical centre. We have 30 critical care beds on the General Critical Care Unit and 22 beds on the Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit. Our Critical Care services can offer you broad experience in caring for critically ill adults in an innovative, challenging and aspirational workplace. We are committed to advancing nursing practice and our Clinical Nurse Training and Development team provide in-house training and support for Clinical and Professional have opportunity for experienced senior nurse to work within General Critical Critical Care Unit. We have rotations in place between the combined General Adult Intensive Care and High Dependency unit and the combined adult ITU/HDU Cardiothoracic Critical Care Unit. You will gain valuable experience in the care of patients with a wide range of needs including Trauma, Haematology, GI Surgery, Vascular Surgery, Renal Medicine/Transplant surgery and Head and Neck Surgery, complex cardiac care pre and post-surgery and complex Medical and Surgical patients.

Main duties of the job

A high profile, accessible and responsive leader with clinical, staff and service responsibility for a defined patient group. Able to make informed decisions within their own area and scope of professional practice, involving patients and public to ensure agreed standards, objectives and targets are met. The leader should be able to provide exceptional treatment and care to patients throughout their critical illness.

The practitioner will be able to make informed decisions within the speciality and scope of professional ensure agreed standards, targets and objectives are met. They will work collaboratively within the critical care teams to meet the needs of patients and play a key leadership role in service delivery and adherence to policy and procedures. They will demonstrate safe clinical decision making and expert care for their patient group and provide appropriate plans of care.

The post holder will be required to ensure evidence based care is delivered to patients and be involved in audit of practice, research and service improvement.
