An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Site Lead Nurse post at the PRUH.

Working with the Site Director and Deputy Director of Nursing, the Lead Nurse will help to achieve NHS and Trust objectives by providing expert professional advice, leading areas of work specifically associated with patient safety and experience. The post holder will contribute to the development and implementation of nursing policies affecting the wider Trust and support the development and promotion of the Trust’s mission, values, aims and objectives.

The post holder will promote evidence based, visible, compassionate leadership, acting as a role model for best practice, which will involve working clinically on wards/departments on a regular basis whilst providing operational and high level expert advanced practice leadership, clinical advice, teaching, research, mentorship and support for staff in relation to all aspects of nursing. In addition, you will create an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation between professions and actively promote the benefits of multidisciplinary team working

The Lead Nurse will have a good understanding of the national professional nursing agenda and will raise the profile of nursing within the organisation establishing and developing mutually supportive and productive working relationships to the benefit of patient care and pathways.

Main duties of the job

The Site Lead Nurse will support the PRUH and South Sites (SS) Senior Nursing Team to ensure that service and operational objectives are implemented and will contribute to the PRUHand SS achieving the strategic, operational and financial objectives. The role will contribute to the delivery of the professional nursing agenda at PRUH and SS whilst supporting a consistency in care and standards across the clinical areas, with a focus on visible leadership, quality assurance, patient safety and experience improvement projects across the sites.

The additional support within the Director of Nursing’s team will allow for greater visibility of all 3 members of the senior nursing team (DON, DDON and Site Lead Nurse) across all four sites and with the capacity to undertake quality surveillance and assurance to support the development of a culture which values professional development and strives for excellence in the delivery of patient care and quality improvement. The role will enable the senior nursing team to promote evidence based, visible, compassionate leadership, acting as role models for best practice which is currently limited due to the number of work streams and meeting commitments.
