Admin Assistant with some moving and lifting boxes

Location: Hull

Job Type: Temporary

Duration of booking: Expected to be 3 months with the view to be extended to 6 months

Proposed start date: ASAP

Pay Rates: £10.69 paye inclusive per hour

Working Days and Hours: 8am to 4pm Monday to Friday is ideal but there can be flexibility within the hours of 7am to 5pm . No weekend working is required.

Job Duties

  • This role does require some moving and lifting of boxes containing blocks.
  • Maintaining the departmental archive by filing paraffin processed tissue blocks, glass slides and patient request cards. Each block, slide and request card have a unique number and are stored in numerical order.
  • Retrieving blocks and slides that are required for additional testing and slide review.
  • Assisting in maintaining the long-term archive, which requires completing tasks that require some manual handling. 
  • Patient data entry – inputting of patient details into the departmental computer system.
  • Basic admin and clerical duties assisting the current team of medical secretaries within the departmental office.
  • Qualification

  • Some of the tasks are relatively physical and also require staff members to stand for some periods of time. 
  • Some work will be carried out in a laboratory space so the staff member will be required to wear a lab coat. (Appropriate health & safety training will be provided; an understanding of this is not required)
  • An understanding of information governance is desirable but training can be given.
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • IT skills including word and excel.
  • Good communication skills and able to work well in a team.
  • Organisational skills and good attention to detail.
  • Ability to file items in numerical order and maintain concentration for considerable periods of time.
