Job Title: Warehouse Manager
Location: Greater Manchester
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 PA 

My client are a global leader in container shipping and ports. They’re opening a to support their substantial growth within the and therefore need an experienced Warehouse Manager to join the business.

Job Summary:

Overall responsibility for the warehouse and its operational activities, ensuring that company and health and safety policies and procedures are always applied and adhered to. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain a working relationship with the operations teams and their associates ensuring that agreed quality and performance standards are always achieved
  • Fully understand customer requirements and adopt an approach which will ensure that customer’s needs are met and exceeded 
  • Take responsibility for the implementation and adherence to the company Health and Safety Policy and all safe working practices with the operations team and environment. Ensure all control measures are implemented and maintained and all documentation is kept up to date and valid. Take overall responsibility for adherence to H&S legislation
  • Analyse and understand Health & Safety related risks and take action to reduce or eliminate these risks according to a prioritised plan alongside driving a safety culture. Ensure that all legal requirements are met
  • Responsible for the management, motivation, and development of the on-site warehouse teams, ensuring and maintaining open communication on a day-to-day basis
  • Development of the company culture and values within the site ensuring areas such as equal opportunities, Health and Safety etc. are given priority
  • Objective setting of realistic and demanding KPI’s, actively seeking ways of improving efficiency, performance and reducing costs throughout the whole site
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement in all site operations
  • Ensure effective resource planning and management to meet customer and business requirements
  • Ensure all legislative and general training requirements are completed effectively and in good timeEnsure compliance with all Company operating and administrative proceduresEnsure that all inbound, outbound, and internal stock movement processes are recorded and reported accurately, compliantly and on a timely basis
  • Development and implementation of a site Succession Plan and ensure ongoing people development planning via the appraisal process and regular 1 to1’s.
  • Re-work of freight to customers’ requirements, working to targets
  • Ensuring all freight is free from damage and reporting any discrepancies
  • Maintaining warehouse equipment to agreed standards and management of routine maintenance of equipment in line with company service provider maintenance agreements
  • Inform Manager of any work situation, equipment or activity that represents a serious or immediate danger top health and safety
  • Report any hazards, near misses, incidents, accidents, or dangerous occurrences to Manager
  • Forward planning for ULD build up and breakdown, ensuring all builds are optimised and compliant to airline standards
  • Ensure export cargo is labelled correctly and matches export paperwork provided by operations team
  • Management of outsourced security screening providers visiting site to screen cargo in line with company and AVSEC procedures

Experience:

Technical skills:

  • Computer literacy skills
  • Employment Law knowledge (Preferred)
  • Experience in operating a HMRC ETSF facility
  • Budget setting and finance control
  • Understanding of Warehouse management systems
  • Operational warehouse management skills
  • Manage and organise all assigned labour for export ULD build up and import breakdown
  • Optimisation of ULD builds following airline specifications
  • Forklift truck license
  • CAA – Cargo Operative training
  • Clean driving license

Soft skills:

  • Communication and relationship building at all levels (Customer, HMRC, Management, Operations).
  • Ability to lead, direct and motivate across all departments
  • Development of Management roles within the site succession plan
