We are also able to offer other haematology / cancer care modules which are all accredited and can be used towards degree / masters. As the inpatient unit for Autologous Stem Cell transplant we are also able to offer the Stem Cell transplant module too.

Ward 5 operates a two-shift working pattern – and 19-00-07:30

You will be required to work across site with Clinical Nurse Specialist and Multi-disciplinary team members within the Cancer Care and Haematology units and ward.

You will be required to work a rotational shift pattern Monday to Friday including long days and across site as required.

Main duties of the job

The post holder is designated to regularly take charge of the ward/department, and provide an effective, professional and managerial leadership focus, in the absence of the ward manager or deputy.

To carry out all relevant forms of care, maintaining a high standard of nursing care within the framework of Trust policies.

Supervises qualified and/or unqualified staff.

Teaches patients to administer their own treatment (when appropriate) and gives instruction and advice prior to undergo the care of the patient receiving chemotherapy course within 12 months of commencement of post, to safely be able to administer participate in internal rotation to the chemotherapy day units to obtain and sustain chemotherapy experience
