Job summary

You will be based within our clinical services team working with the Clinical Lead Pharmacist at Queen’s Hospital providing and developing the clinical pharmacy service to our care of the Elderly wards, providing patient-focused care, and supporting the Trust to improve patient flow through the hospital.

To do this you will be expected to work closely with and supervise rotational band 6 and 7 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians to ensure that new patients are identified and reviewed and that discharges are processed in a timely manner. You will participate in the training of pharmacy staff, doctors and nurses and other healthcare workers and providing timely drug usage and expenditure information, as well as safety reports on incidents within the area.

You must have completed the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice. You must be able to work with medical and nursing staff and other health care professionals. You should also have experience be able to organise and manage a busy workload.

You must be an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist who enjoys working as part of a team and have exceptional organizational skills. You must be hard working, accurate and have hospital pharmacy experience, preferably some of this working in a UK hospital, including experience in clinical pharmacy.

The post holder will act as a clinical pharmacist responsible for Care of the Elderly speciality under the supervision of the Clinical Lead Pharmacist.
