An exciting opportunity has arisen for a permanent band 7 pharmacy technician to join our ePMA project team.

Our digital implementation is in full swing with two of our acute sites already using our WellSky ePMA system in adult inpatient areas.

This post is being advertised to continue the delivery and roll out of pharmacy based digital systems across MSE. This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of digital innovation, applying digital solutions to enable improved patient care.

Main duties of the job

Working in conjunction with clinical specialities be responsible for designing and building drug formularies in new IT systems that involve the recording of medicines and ensuring that the differing needs of sites and specialties are taken into account.

Use project management skills to manage the full lifecycle of projects including risk/issue management, project plans, highlight and exception reports and benefits realisation.

Extensively test new functionality ensuring it is fit for purpose and safe for deployment to end users.

Act as a technical expert on pharmacy IT systems and be able to communicate the capabilities and limitations of the systems functionality to clinical staff in a way that can be easily understood.

Review and analysis prescribing and administration incidents that occur during implementation of new systems and work with multidisciplinary teams to identify the root cause and what system changes can be put in place to prevent reoccurrence.

As the system expert work with the healthcare analytics to team help design and develop innovative reports, dashboards and tools to harness the data captured in pharmacy systems.

Work closely with the digital services integration team to design, develop and test bespoke interfaces between ePMA and other clinical and non clinical systems.

Undertake any other duties required, within the nature and grade of post, as designated by the ePMA Lead Pharmacist.

Essential

  • Registered as pharmacy technician or pharmacist with the GPHC
  • Accredited to check dispensed prescriptions
  • Further qualification in or equivalent advanced practice
  • Management training
  • In depth working knowledge of Pharmacy based IT systems
  • Computer literate Proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office software

Desirable

  • Project Management qualification
  • Post graduate diploma or MSc in management/leadership or IT related subject area
  • Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB)
  • In depth knowledge of the WellSky EPMA system
  • Post graduate Diploma or MSc in Management or IT related subject area

  • Significant post registration experience in a hospital environment
