Job summary

The post holder will act as a point of contact for the PIBD BioResourcesites recruiting participants and will work closely alongside the PIBD BioResourceCoordinator. This role will focus on the effective day-to-day running of the Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel Disease BioResourcestudy. This will include responsibilities such as: tracking the recruitment progress of the study, maintaining effective filing systems whilst understanding the importance of confidentiality, and to maintain adequate stock levels of study materials. It will also be required of you to carry out other related administrative tasks such as site initiation visit preparations, and sending out study supplies to research sites and participants.

You will have meticulous attention and an enquiring approach in the resolving of data queries and will redirect for assistance where necessary. You will have relevant experience of working in a similar role in an office environment, with good knowledge of how to navigate standard Microsoft Office packages and familiarity using online databases. It is essential that you show you have good organisational skills as well as both good written and oral communication skills; you will be expected to liaise with site research staff, parents/guardians of participants and/or laboratory staff.

Main duties of the job

  • To administer and maintain the logistical aspects of the recruitment of participants to the PIBD BioResource.
  • To monitor and maintain spreadsheets, databases and documents to track the recruitment and progress of the PIBD BioResource study.
  • To maintain effective filing systems including investigator site files and administrative files.
  • To act as a point of contact for the PIBD BioResource, liaising with site research staff, parents/guardians of participants, NIHR BioResource staff, laboratory staff etc, using initiative and judgment to solve problems and provide feedback to the Co-ordinator as appropriate
  • To maintain confidentiality of issues relating to those participating in the BioResource.
  • To maintain adequate stock levels of study materials, receiving orders and sending out study packs/ supplies to sites and participants if required
  • To adhere to the BioResources Standard Operating Procedures for the conduct of the study.
  • To be aware of the DoH Research Governance Framework for Health and Social Care governing the conduct of research.
