Job summary

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery ofevidence-based care to patients with a tracheostomy/ laryngectomy within CountyDurham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will be able to work as an autonomouspractitioner, providing specialist support and clinical leadership to overseethe delivery of safe, effective, person-centered care to all patients withtracheostomies/laryngectomy, ensuring care is provided by appropriately trainedstaff.

The post holder will provide a continuing supportive serviceinclusive of information and advice within hospital and community, to patientsand their carers, and to staff supporting patients with a tracheostomy. Theywill act as an expert resource for the multidisciplinary team to ensure eachperson receives the highest standard of person centered care

They will take the lead and develop and deliver training andeducational programs for the clinical areas where patients are cared for with atracheostomy. They will support staff to achieve the relevant competence tomanage this patient group in line with local and national guidance.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will work as an autonomouspractitioner and will have links to our ENT/ head and neck team, to providespecialist, expert nursing services to patients who have a tracheostomy. Thecandidate will also be required to help support the specialist Head and Neckcancer CNS team when required, with developmental opportunity in line withservice plans to support and develop further skills as an ENT nursepractitioner, as well as providing support to the surgical footprint.
