The Cancer Services Division at UHB delivers world class cancer care to patients from across the country, with a range of specialised services in oncology and haematology, delivered by a team of specialist pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistant technical officers.

Main duties of the job

The role will include a variety of tasks, enabling you to develop your knowledge and skills through structured education and training opportunities. It provides a rewarding opportunity to assist in the preparation of cytotoxic drugs, monoclonal antibodies, CIVAS, OPAT and innovative treatments such as clinical trials in a safe and efficient manner according to Good Manufacturing Practice and National Standards.

As the Deputy Accountable Pharmacist, you will complete the following duties:

* Work as the Authorised Pharmacist for the unit by final checking and releasing aseptically

prepared products and dispensed outsourced products

* Assist in management of the Quality Management System by completing complaints, deviations,

change controls, standard operating procedures and audits

* Attend various meetings in the department. Including quality management meetings, error/defect

meetings, multi-disciplinary team meetings

* Train various grades of staff in the department, including students/visitors

* Have management responsibilities. Including drafting rotas, conducting interviews, managing

junior staff members

* Clinical duties. (The level of clinical duties can be discussed upon appointment)

Positions are available at the Melchett Road Aseptic Unit (Kings Norton) and the Heartlands Aseptic Dispensing Unit. Cross-site cover may be required, but can also be considered on a permanent basis if the applicant is interested.
