An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Pharmacy Technician to join our dedicated pharmacy clinical trials team, led by our Clinical Trials and Research Lead Pharmacist.

We are looking for a pharmacy technician with experience or an interest in clinical trials, to join our team of pharmacy technicians and assistants based in the Pharmacy Trials Unit (PTU) in providing the pharmaceutical input into our portfolio of clinical trials.

With around 130 active clinical trials in our portfolio, this is a great opportunity to get involved in research in a range of clinical specialties.

Main duties of the job

Based in the PTU at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI), the post holder will work closely with the Lead Clinical Trials Pharmacist to manage the pharmacy clinical trials service, the running of the PTU and management of its staff.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the efficient set-up and close-down of dispensary clinical trials and overseeing and coordinating the Investigational Medicinal Product (IMP) management of all active dispensary clinical trials undertaken within UHBW.

This includes supporting the dispensing and stock management of clinical trials at Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH) and St Michael’s Hospital (StMH).

You will need to have good communication and organisation skills, enthusiasm and an ability to motivate yourself to ensure we provide a high quality service.

  • BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent (must be a UK recognised pharmacy technician qualification)
  • UK Technician registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Up to date Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training
  • Accredited Checking Technician (ACT)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Evidence of at least 2 years UK post-qualification experience of dispensary activities, medicines dispensing and supply in a hospital setting
  • Experience in dispensing clinical trials
  • Knowledge of Research and Ethics procedures
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team

  • One to one and small group teaching
