An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 30 hour per week permanent psychology post to improve the lives of patients and their families affected by haematological conditions within the Coventry area. This is an established psychology post within the Haematology Team, who value psychological approaches as an integrative part of patient care. You will take a lead role for psychological care for this population supported by a senior psychologist within Oncology. The service provides much needed psychological therapy and psychologically focused care to patients treated by UHCW as well as providing training, support, supervision and consultation to clinicians.

We are seeking a qualified and motivated psychologist, who is passionate about making a difference in haematology and supporting people to live well, with and beyond, their conditions, including towards end of life. The Haematology Psychology service is part of the growing clinical health psychology team working with people struggling with the impact of their physical health condition or diagnosis at UHCW

The post will be based at the University Hospital Coventry but may also include work at Rugby St Cross Hospital.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for evidence based psychological interventions with patients and their families carers referred to the Haematology Psychology Service service and specifically to promote adaptation and adjustment. To ensure the systematic provision of psychological service, including the responsibility to prioritise work appropriately.

To use psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with patients, family members and carers and others involved in their care. To follow up and to re-assess clients when considered appropriate, using approved statistical methods to make valid comparisons.

To communicate both orally, and in written reports, the content of these investigations and resulting formulations to support the work of multidisciplinary colleagues.

You must be HCPC registered, with experience of working with people with physical health conditions, and comfortable working both in inpatient settings and in outpatient clinics. We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and a commitment to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

Please note that this is a 30 hours part time post, however, we will accept applications from candidates wanting fewer hours or job shares.
