We are seeking a Highways Engineer to join its busy and sociable Infrastructure and Flood Risk team with flexibility to work from Cheltenham, Bristol or from home.

The ideal candidate will have a civil engineering qualification, 1-2 years of experience as a Highway Engineer or 4-5 years of experience in a junior role, knowledge of relevant design standards, excellent communication skills, and experience in mentoring junior staff.

As the Highway Engineer you will be responsible for:

  • Prepare technical drawings such as sketch highway designs, preliminary highway designs, and S278 drawings, including for the subsequent negotiation through to approval.
  • Mentor junior team members.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, external project team members and clients.
  • Undertake site visits.
  • Obtain information, such as drawings and utility searches from third parties.

The highway Engineer will also display:

  • Knowledge of, and experience of producing, Section 278 designs.
  • Knowledge of Civil 3D/Site 3D
  • Knowledge of relevant design standards such as Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, Traffic Signs Manual and TSRGD.
