Public Health Wales has the remit to provide strategic leadership for the development of immunisation services across Wales both in primary and secondary care and in addition to those non-NHS organisations who have a need for immunisation advice and guidance. An opportunity has arisen to join our existing team and help shape the future.

The Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme (VPDP) in Public Health Wales is seeking an experienced Public Health Practitioner/Nurse to join the successful Vaccine Preventable Disease Programme (VPDP). This role is with the Vulnerable Populations Engagement Team for a 12 month fixed-term position. It is a national role and will be key in supporting immunisation programmes in Wales.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual with engagement expertise, and experience in public health and service development.

Main duties of the job

The post involves contributing to the delivery of public health immunisation projects and interventions at an All Wales level using public health knowledge and skills.

Supporting several aspects of the national immunisation programme work, and working with key staff in the VPDP, Public Health Wales, Health Boards, the wider NHS and other organisations in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency setting. Applicants must be capable of responding to service change, have excellent IT skills, and be adaptable with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
