Job summary

The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust is an acute care Foundation Teaching Trust catering for a population of over 400,000 with a 782 bedded fully equipped modernised hospital, with two satellite units (equipped for outpatient and day case procedures).

The Specialist Surgery Directorate itself is under the Clinical Directorship of Mr Sohail Qureshi. The Orthodontics Service is grouped with Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, ENT and Audiology and is led by Mr Neil Molony as Clinical Service Lead

The Trust has a clinically led structure. The Specialist Surgery Directorate forms part of the Surgical Division, which is under the leadership of Mr Babar Elahi (Chief of Surgery), Mr Pradip Karanjit (Director of Operations), and Mr Jack Richards (Divisional Chief Nurse).

The departments offer a high-quality orthodontic referral service for local general dental practitioners, community dentists, general medical practitioners and other consultant colleagues. The Trust currently employs 1 Orthodontic Consultant, 1 Locum Consultant Orthodontist, 2 Orthodontic clinical assistants, 1 Oral Surgery Consultant and 2 Oral and Maxillofacial Consultant.

Main duties of the job

  • Undertake Orthodontic clinics within the outpatient setting at Russell Hall Hospital.
  • Take forward the Orthodontic service to include the management and orthodontic treatment for orthognathic and orthodontic patients.
  • To provide necessary advice and support to general dental practitioners and primary care orthodontic specialists undertaking NHS orthodontic treatment.
  • Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care
  • Participation in clinical audit and in continuing medical/dental education.
  • The post holder will not be required to participate in an on-call rota.

  • The proposed programme of work comprises of 7 – 10 programmed activities (PAs) each of which has a nominal timetable value of four hours.
