We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified ambitious and motivated individual to join our highly skilled and friendly team of radiographers, delivering excellent patient care at Barts Health NHS Trust.

This band 6 senior radiographer position will be based at The Royal London Hospital site of Barts Health which is located in the historical, vibrant and diverse East End of London. The position will be to assist in leading the plain film and theatre imaging service with a rotation to other modalities.

The Royal London Hospital is home to the London Air Ambulance and is also one of the capitals leading trauma and stroke centres. The hospital also houses one of the largest children’s hospitals in the UK.

The imaging department has state of the art equipment throughout and provides a varied rotation through different modalities and specialities.

The department is well known for its excellent mentorship and training programme. Being a major teaching hospital, we pride ourselves on our commitment to career and professional development and have an excellent CPD programme.

You will be expected to participate in our out of hours imaging roster which provides 7 day working.

Applicants for this post must hold a BSc in Diagnostic Radiography or the Diploma of the College of Radiographers. Applicants must also be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a plain film & theatre imaging rotational radiographer for Core Services.The post holder will be expected to rotate through other imaging modalities.

The aim of this role is to provide high quality imaging and patient care throughout a large range of imaging modalities and to deliver a safe effective and efficient service that delivers the Trusts WEcare Values.

Based at the Royal London Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for a variable caseload of imaging for modalities such as:

  • Plain film imaging (IP, GP. OP, A&E and Paediatrics)
  • CT
  • Interventional Radiography
  • Fluoroscopy
  • Mobile Fluoroscopy
  • Dental Imaging
  • MRI (possibility to be trained)

This role is to provide visible senior radiographer leadership to radiographers, radiographic staff and students within the imaging service, based at the Royal London Hospital. The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that efficient and effective imaging is undertaken to a wide range of patients on a day-to-day basis.The post holder will also be obligated to participate in the out of hours imaging roster which provides 7 day working.
