Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust recognise the important role that Arts Therapies has in supporting people with complex mental health needs, as a result we are pleased to advertise a full time, 12-month fixed term band 7 role within our Steps 2 Recovery Service, which is our r ehabilitation and r ecovery s ervices .

We are seeking a highly skilled, enthusiastic, and resilient ArtPsychotherapist who is interested in supporting people with complex needs to engage in psychological work that supports their wants and aims for the future. This development is an opportunity to broaden the psychological offer that is available to people accessing our recovery services, people who may have struggled to engage in verbal focused interventions and will be available as part of a Multi-disciplinary (MDT) team approach.

Main duties of the job

To develop, evidence and evaluate an art psychotherapy resource within our Steps 2 Recovery Service which supports people who are living and receiving support within our inpatient recovery units, of which there are 7 located across Birmingham and Solihull. The successful candidates will, as part of a MDT team, inform and develop art psychotherapy referral pathway, facilitate both individual 1:1, and group interventions, as well as provide consultation to other clinical staff. You will receive clinical supervision from an experienced art psychotherapist, line management support from within your designated team and have access to training and development opportunities to develop your career within a dynamic team in a busy setting.

As an Art Psychotherapist working within the trust, you will become a member of a large community of Arts Therapists working in various settings across the trust including, secure and forensic Services, Early Intervention Service, Complex Treatment Service Community Art Psychotherapy Service, Solar young people’s service, as well as the Enhanced Pathway for Personality Service. This network of Arts Therapist will ensure you have access to model specific support, mentoring and professional leadership via the Head of Arts Therapies who will support your development throughout the duration of the role.
