Assistant Principal Safeguarding, Welfare and Attendance

Ormiston Bushfield Academy is a good school (OFSTED December 2019) with the inspection stating:

  • The Academy is continuing to expand and due to its popularity and increasing student numbers, a new £6 million wing was opened in September 2018.     The Academy has continued to build on the successes of the last few years and achieved strong results at GCSE & A-Level in the summer. It is conveniently located close to the Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire & Lincolnshire borders & benefits from excellent road and rail links.

    Required for an Easter or September 2023 start, we are seeking to appoint an inspirational and innovative Assistant Principal to join our highly motivated leadership team.

    The successful candidate will have responsibility for leading safeguarding, welfare and attendance and will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead. The successful candidate will the support the Principal in ensuring that Safeguarding culture and practices in the Academy are robust, thorough and support/promote the welfare of all pupils. Experience in a similar area of responsibility is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.

    Some of the key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

  • Acting as the main point of contact within the Academy, receiving and acting upon any reported concerns. This includes ensuring that all paperwork and our digital safeguarding system (CPOMS) are accurate, correct, fully completed and reviewed as necessary.
  • To be responsible for the management and monitoring of all EHAs, CIN and CP cases within the Academy.
  • To be the Academy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Implementing, promoting and reviewing the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policies and Procedures within the Academy and Ormiston Academies Trust.
  • Monitoring pupil attendance, including non-attendance, accidents logs, pre-existing injury reports, concern forms and incident forms to exclude any possible child protection issues.
  • Representing the key link to statutory agencies (Social Care or Police).
  • Be the designated teacher for Children in Care.
  • To line manage the Welfare, Attendance and First Aid teams within the Academy.
  • The successful candidate will require excellent leadership and management skills alongside the energy and drive to inspire and motivate others.
