Main duties of the job
We have a fantastic and rare opportunity for a brand new Assistant Technical Officer (AFC Band 4) to join our Pharmacy Dispensary at University Hospital, Coventry.
You will be responsible for the goods receipt of medication into the department and have oversight of the automated robot within pharmacy. This includes supervising staff in providing an efficient service across University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust.
You will work closely with an excellent and highly experienced team of pharmacy technicians, assistants and pharmacists.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You must have good attention to detail, be able to work in a highly pressured environment, be able to supervise staff and have high regard for patient care.
You will be self-motivated and organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will able to work effectively alone and as part of a team, and will have the opportunity to develop the service currently provided to specialist units within the Trust.
Applicants must possess the relevant NVQ qualification or equivalent and appropriate experience is essential.
This is a full time post (37.5hrs/wk). The successful candidate for this post will be able to start immediately.
To effectively monitor workload and manage pharmacy technicians and assistants to respond to demands as required.
To contribute to the design, implementation and evaluation of new and improved pharmacy dispensary services.
To support the workflow within the Dispensary, ensuring work is processed to required deadlines and urgent requests are dealt with promptly. To make appropriate escalations to the Duty Technician if workload reaches designated escalation points.
Monitor turnaround times and workload status using in-house tracking system.
To assist the Duty Technician in the investigation of complaints in accordance with the Trust policies and participate in any corrective action required.
To identify training gaps and work alongside the Training and Education and Pharmacy Operations team to ensure that all pharmacy staff within the dispensary are appropriately trained in all aspects of the service.
To support the Education and Training team in ensuring that pharmacy dispensary staff receive a comprehensive local induction and updates in all areas of the service.
To support the investigation of stock discrepancies liaising with the Operations Team, Medicines Management and Ward Stock Supply Co-ordinator and Procurement Team, assisting in any corrective action if necessary.
