Job summary

You will be enrolled onto a healthcare support worker induction programme held each month, ensuring you feel supported as you take the first steps into your new career.
Please note: most of our wards operate a 24-hour shift rotation across a 7-day service. We are recruiting to full and part time hours, however for the role of a Healthcare Assistant, you will be expected to work shift patterns, unfortunately we are unable to offer set days/working patterns. The minimum part time hours we recruit to is 23 hours.
Main duties of the job
Communicate with patients and their visitors in order to promote their comfort and well-beingCommunication with other members of the organisation and respond appropriatelyAssist with admission, transfer and discharge of patients.Make unoccupied beds and occupied beds.Assist patients out of bed, helping with dressing and undressing as requiredWash/bathe patients in bed and in the bathroom.Care of hands and feet of patients in bed.Observe patients’ skin and report any red marks or blemishes to nursing staff in charge.Assist with manual handling and transferring of patients complying with the Trust Moving and Handling policyUnder direction of trained nurse, assist with the treatment/management of patients with insect infestations.Report Accidents/incidents to nurse in charge and complete appropriate Trust forms.Chaperone Medical Staff.Assist with the care of the patient’s mouth, teeth, nails and hair, washing hair at Nurse in Charge’s direction.Prepare and distribute patients’ meal trays and help with the serving of meals and drinks as required, and help collect used crockery etc.
