South Yorkshire Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub, working with local ICB’s, are offering places for the Nurse Vocational Training Scheme (VTS) Programme starting in May 2023.

This role is open to both Registered Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses (or Nurses due to qualify before May).

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit experienced Registered Nurses, or Newly Qualified Nurses wishing to pursue a career in general practice to join our 1-year training programme, providing health and wellbeing advice, care and treatment to patients on placement rotations in our GP practices across South Yorkshire.

Our practice population have a wide variety of needs, from management of complex and chronic conditions to health screening and advice, immunisation and vaccinations, and identification and treatment of all common health concerns. Thanks to additional support from the SY Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub, we know that if you’re the right candidate, we will be able to provide you with the robust support, supervision and professional development you’ll need in the first year to become a confident autonomous practitioner and have a successful and long career in Primary Care.

About us

The organisation currently delivers extended access primary care services in Rotherham, providing evening and weekend appointments to patients out of core hours to ensure patients have access to GP, Nursing, HCA and pharmacist appointments. The organisation is supporting the development of primary care networks and manages delivery of training and development to large cohorts of the general practice workforce. Our Nursing team champion new models of development and training to up skill the existing workforce at all levels, in addition to promoting new roles and supporting training schemes in general practice
