We are seeking to recruit Health Protection Practitioners to work as part of the Yorkshire & Humber Region health protection team. The post holders will be responsible under the direction of the Senior Health Protection Practitioner for responding to a range of day-to-day health protection issues as part of our acute response service in the investigation and control of infectious disease and other threats to health.

Your contractual and operational base will be Blenheim House, Leeds. We are currently hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days spent in the office and the rest working remotely from home , there will be an increased expectation to work from your contractual site in the future, in line with UKHSA’s policies.

Main duties of the job

The Health Protection Practitioner will be required to interpret protocol and guidance, communicating advice to a range of stakeholders’, while sometimes needing to negotiate and influence sensitive decision making on an individual and organisational level. We are seeking individuals who possess both technical knowledge of health protection and who have the skills to investigate and control communicable disease.

The Yorkshire & Humber health protection team operates Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and provides an out-of-hours on-call duty service at all other times. The post holder will participate, following appropriate training, in the on-call rota, for which financial remuneration is provided as per terms and conditions of contract. The frequency of on call the post holder will undertake is based on service needs.
