Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the admin team basedwithin the Pre-Operative Assessment Unit. The unitsprimary purpose is to ensure that patients undergoing elective surgery are ableto negotiate and agree a suitable date for their surgery. Specialist Pre-Assessment Nurses within theunit are responsible for screening all patients added to surgery waiting lists,to ensure they are fit and ready for surgery. In preparation for admission for elective inpatient surgery, allpatients undergo a further pre-operative assessment.

Main duties of the job

The main purpose of the role is to provide an efficient reception andadmin support service for patients attending the pre-operative unit, nursingstaff and waiting list booking staff.

Tasks include greeting patients, booking in electronic system andinforming nursing teams of arrival.

Collection and collation of patient documents in preparation for patientPre-assessment appointments.

Answering telephone calls form patients, taking messages and communicatingto relevanct staff / colleaugues.
