Role description:

Reporting to the BIM Manager we have an opportunity for a Senior BIM Modeller to join our Rail Eastern Business Unit based in our York office to support the design, development, manufacture and construction of products, equipment, processes, systems or services.

Working in a busy Rail design team with a strong project pipeline, you will leverage your technical knowledge and experience to apply technical and practical engineering production skills in a BIM environment for typically larger and more complex commissions.

You will have an excellent knowledge of the BIM process and you will be responsible for model delivery and ensuring your models comply with project and company standards.

Role Accountabilities:

  • Contribute to the production of project BIM deliverables including drawings that are accurate, clear, concise and compliant with Arcadis standards, best practice and any other standards dictated by the nature of the project.
  • Ensure compliance with Arcadis drafting standards and national drafting standards.
  • Deliver work that meets client and Arcadis requirements.
  • Operate as a competent technician within a single area of work with little supervision.
  • Contribute to BIM deliverables under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
  • Prepare BIM deliverables.
  • Have an understanding of the modelling of multiple elements of a project and how it ultimately interfaces with the client.
  • Contribute to the resolution of modelling issues on projects.
  • Undertake electronic document management including drawing registers.
  • Check own work ahead of production checking.
  • Check and verify that quality requirements have been achieved in accordance with Arcadis systems.
  • Work with other design disciplines to ensure the integration of the overall design or solution
  • Undertake production checking, of work in progress to ensure that it meets design intent
  • Successfully complete assigned BIM modelling work within budget and deadlines.
  • Qualifications & Experience:

  • Have a qualification in a relevant technical subject including elements of Modelling (HNC/HND or equivalent)
  • Have achieved Engineering Technician status or equivalent through a recognised professional institution
  • Have previous relevant experience in design, drafting or engineering and BIM
  • Demonstrable previous experience in BIM model production
  • Experience with the use of Bentley MicroStation or Bentley Open Buildings Designer
  • Experience with the use of Bentley ProjectWise CDE
  • Awareness of the Network Rail CAD Standards
  • Awareness of Clash Detection processes and resolution
  • Awareness of CDM Regulations and the use of hazard identification and risk assessment during design development
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and guidelines
  • Experience in the use of project Design Decision Logs and Project Assumptions registers to record and agree key project decisions
