Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist who is interested in joining our community services for a 12 month secondment . You will join established teams of Occupational Therapists based within our Adult Community Mental Health Services focused on providing an excellent OT service . You will have the opportunity to continue to develop clinical skills and hold a small complex caseload, you will be offered training to develop these skills, as well as offering leadership and management for your team. This role can be based at any of the HPFT bases within the North West or South West quadrants of Hertfordshire . You will have the support of the Lead OT and will be part of the Head OT team across the in-patient and crisis services.

Due to the location of this post and the need to travel across the county, a car driver, or use of other motorised transport e.g. moped or motorbike is essential for this role (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010 which prevents you from driving).

Main duties of the job

The post holder will have the opportunity to hold a complex clinical caseload, as well as provide leadership for a team of therapists and therapy assistants .

Training will be offered to develop leadership skills as well as specialist clinical skills (such as Sensory Integration, Positive Behavioural Support, AMPS, CQI etc depending on interest). There is also an increasing need for the OT team to use their physical health knowledge so this offers an opportunity to embed the duel training of OT.

You will join the ACMHS leadership teams . You will be an integral part of the team to take the various quality improvements forward, as well as continue to develop and establish the OT pathway and interventions across the teams.

A sound working knowledge of the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) and it’s application to practice is essential. There are regular opportunities to network with other OT’s in the Trust to share ideas and good practice. We also provide a monthly CPD training event and there are opportunities to apply for external courses.
