Job summary

We are looking for a Radiographer who is a qualified Mammographer with considerable experience to take a Clinical Excellence role within Breast Imaging.

You will be part of a team who support each other and take pride in delivering excellent care.

The role is primarily a clinical one and you will spend your working day undertaking mammography and mammo-based procedures. You will also take responsibility for elements of service provision to standardise procedures, create efficiencies and promote best practice as a single, integrated unit based on three sites. Building relationships and encouraging co-operation are important parts of this role.

Main duties of the job

The Band 7 Mammographer role provides a high quality and responsive Mammography service as part of a multi-disciplinary team within Breast Imaging. Working to a very high technical standard and responsible for their own work, you will liaise closely with other team members to ensure the appropriate imaging is provided in a timely manner where it is needed.

  • Significant post graduate experience in Radiography
  • Substantial previous experience of Mammography and other techniques to be competent to : oadapt to individual patient anatomy to produce specific standard and non-standard mammographic views. oenable training of junior staff and students
  • Experience of a range of Mammographic procedures
  • Experience of clinical audit
  • Previous experience of participation in research projects
  • Experience of setting up Breast Biopsy equipment
  • Experience of imaging core biopsy and surgical excision specimens, often requiring physical handling of fresh specimens.
  • Taken part in Breast Screening Quality Assurance
  • Experience of supervising staff.

  • Hold DCR(R) or BSc Hons degree (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Imaging.
  • Current and up-to-date Registration with the HCPC
  • Additional specialist training equivalent to Master’s level plus practical experience: Breast Imaging Theory and Practice
  • Have undertaken, be in the process of undertaking or be willing to undertake additional post-graduate professional training such as Image Interpretation and Reporting in Mammography, Image-guided interventional procedures of the Breast, Ultrasound of the Breast, Practice Education etc
  • Evidence of substantial CPD in clinically related and relevant subjects
