Job summary

Reporting to the Associate Clinical Director for Surgical Abortion, the ToP Surgeon provides safe and appropriate clinical care for clients undergoing first trimester and early second trimester abortion. The ToP Surgeon will provide safe, non-judgemental, and effective care for clients accessing services and will act within the guidelines of the General Medical Council, Care Quality Commission, Department of Health and Social Care, and other regulatory bodies to perform abortion care services.

ToP Surgeons are expected to work flexibly and collaboratively with other clinical and operational team members. ToP Surgeons are required to follow MSIUKs policies, but where it is clinically necessary to deviate from established policies, rationale must be clearly documented in the client notes. If a ToP Surgeon declines to treat a client on grounds that are not in keeping with MSIUKs pre-existing conditions guidelines (PECG) or other peers practice, it is expected that the ToP surgeon will agree to undertake additional experience and training where appropriate to ensure an equitable service is offered to MSIUKs clients.
