MFT’s Employee Health and Wellbeing (EHW) service provides specialist advisory services and support programmes to all MFT employees and managers, as well as to a variety of external clients. The vision of the EHW Service is to provide efficient, highly professional and cost-effective services which meet the common and often complex occupational health challenges faced by our large and diverse workforce.

Our EHW Service is recruiting to a new and exciting role to join our fantastic team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Head of Fitness For Work Services to be our clinical lead, managing and developing our multidisciplinary team of fitness for work professionals. This senior manager role will report to the Assistant Director of EHW and will be responsible for day-to-day leadership and management of the Fitness For Work Team, Medical Team, Rehabilitation Team and MSK Service. Helping to shape the ongoing development of trailblazing services which are unique to MFT.

Main duties of the job

You will ensure that services operates to high clinical standards and complement the wider EHW service model. Working with other senior colleagues within EHW you will have responsibility for ongoing audit and process reviews to ensure quality standards and effectiveness of services. You will lead the service in maintaining SEQOSH accreditation and ensure ongoing compliance.

As a line manager, you will provide senior support by assisting with coaching, mentoring, appraisals, and clinical supervision, whilst maintaining your own professional development as an expert in the field of Occupational Health.

Ideally you will be a qualified Registered Nurse (RGN) holding an NMC statement of entry for Specialist Community Public Health Nursing and Specialist Practitioner status in Occupational Health. Hold a higher management qualification or equivalent demonstrable management experience and you will have significant experience in a senior role in a large diverse organisation. You must be competent in translating complex information into reports to present to all levels of Trust staff, including Senior Managers and Directors as appropriate. NHS experience is not essential although is desirable.

As a key member of the senior leadership team this role provides you with a unique and exciting opportunity to assist in the on-going design and implementation of a highly professional and customer focused EHW service.
