This is a part time role, which will be paid at Band 6 level.

The role is suitable for someone very enthusiastic about delivering exceptional eye care. Full training for the role will be provided. People with previous experience in intravitreal injections and the relevant training and qualification are well accepted.

The post holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programs of care for patients attending the department.

You will need to be flexible and will need to rotate within our other ophthalmic sites when needed .

The successful applicant will be allocated to work at Weston Eye Clinicin Weston General Hospital.This clinic is part of University Hospitals Bristol and Weston, Bristol Eye Hospital.

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrate the ability to manage own workload independently, as well as professionally lead and oversee the team within the outreach clinic
  • Attend and actively contribute to relevant BEH, Trust and external meetings, ensuring that appropriate staff are informed and updated. This will include regular meetings with the multidisciplinary team aimed at developing and improving service provision.
  • Record, maintain and store an accurate record system in line with trust information governance guidance and collect relevant statistical information for the purpose of evaluating the
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and review of standards/policies/guidelines and service improvements for the Ophthalmology Service informing and collaborating with other colleagues as
  • Comply with the Trusts Manual Handling policy as frequent, moderate, physical effort is required throughout the
  • Some requirement to deal with difficult clinical conditions/situations.
  • Demonstrate highly developed specialist ophthalmic knowledge, practical skills and work procedures, underpinned by theoretical knowledge and relevant clinical
  • Autonomously manage identified case lists of medical retinal patients requiring assessment, treatment and review, consulting with senior clinicians as necessary.
