An exciting opportunity has risen for the post of band 5 Registered Nurse to join the Eating Disorder Intensive Day service at Home team based at Imperial Avenue, Norton. The post holder will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team delivering high quality patient focused care in a community setting. The post holder will work intensively with service users in their own home to embed their co-produced care plan. They will work with service users being discharged from an Eating Disorder Ward and also service users in the community who would benefit from some intensive specialist Eating Disorder support.

The Eating Disorder Day service, is an established team who offer specialist Eating Disorder services at Imperial Avenue, Norton. Additional funding has been secured to support service users with this provision in their own homes. The team offer support to residents of Durham, Darlington and Teesside.

Main duties of the job

As a core member of the team, you will also be responsible for: –

  • your own caseload
  • providing assessments
  • delivering intervention in the community

The role will involve improving the lives of people with mental ill health by minimising the impact of their condition through the delivery of excellent services to promote recovery and wellbeing.

To be professionally accountable and responsible for patient care undertaking a range of clinical/therapeutic interventions in patients’ homes and other community settings.

To promote social inclusion, community access and participation through the provision of patient care.

To facilitate others in the team to develop competence by providing leadership, day to day supervision, clinical advice and clinical supervision to associate practitioners, community support workers and students as appropriate.

To be committed to and involved in activities integral to the Trust’s Quality Improvement System.

To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill health.
